THE UPV PRESENTS ITS CULTURAL WORKSHOPS 2014-15

Take part in the narrative, introduction to digital video, introduction to performing arts, theatre production, poetry in Spanish and/or poetry in Valencian workshops and obtain ECTS or free-elective credits.

The Office of Cultural Activities of the UPV presents its Cultural Workshops 2014-15 ("Aulas de Cultura 2014-15"), a series of workshops open to anyone interested where the participants can obtain ECTS or free-elective credits. This academic year the offer includes narrative, performing and audiovisual arts and poetry in both Valencian and Spanish.

The Narrative Workshop ("Aula de Narrativa"), given by Federico Fojas, is focused on the short novel, its technique and styles. The course is aimed at new writers, literature enthusiasts and students who want to improve their reading or writing skills, as well as students from the previous course, encouraging a symbiotic relationship between them all. The workshop will take place every Thursday (except holidays) from 6 to 8 pm between October 2 and May 28, at the Assembly Hall of the UPV Student Recreation Centre.

The Poetry in Spanish Workshop ("Aula de Poesía en Castellano"), Polimnia 222, given by Elena Escribano, has had the honour of numerous acknowledgements and prizes awarded to its participants over the last decade. It is open to anyone who enjoys reading or writing poetry and does not require any previous knowledge.

The workshop will take place every Tuesday (except holidays) from 6 to 8 pm between October 28 and June 30, at the Assembly Hall of the UPV Student Recreation Centre.

The Poetry in Valencian Workshop, Vers, will be given by Pau Sanchis and aims to create a meeting point where the poetry lovers can share interests and acquire new knowledge on the creation of poetry. The workshop will take place every Wednesday (except holidays) from 6 to 8.30 pm between October 29 and May 13, at the Assembly Hall of the UPV Student Recreation Centre.

The Performing Arts Workshop offers two courses. The first is an introduction, directed by Rusell Di Napoli, that puts the theatrical performance methods of Sanford Meisner, Michael Chejov, Uta Hagen, Stella Adler, Viola Spolin and Ruth Zaporah into practice and will take place every Tuesday (except holidays) from 5.30 to 8.30 pm between October 14 and March 31. The second is the Production Workshop, led by Vicky Algarra, which includes the staging of productions in process and one original 15–minute piece. It will take place every Wednesday (except holidays) between October 15 and April 1, from 5.30 to 8.30 pm.

Finally, the Audiovisual Workshop-Introduction to Digital Video aims to prepare anyone interested (previous knowledge is not required) for audiovisual work with a basic digital video unit. The course, given by Cristian Font and Pascual Ibáñez, will take place between October 20 and November 20 from 4 to 8 pm.

The annual registration fee for each workshop is €5 for degree students, €60 for other students and other members of the UPV (except for the Audiovisual Workshop: €80) and €100 for people who are neither students nor members (except for the Audiovisual Workshop: €120). Registration opens on September 22, 2014, through the Lifelong Learning Centre (Centro de Formación Permanente) (www.cfp.upv.es – cfp@cfp.upv.es – 96 387 77 51).
