On October 22 and 23, 2026, students enrolled in the Master’s Degree Programme in Plant Genetic Improvement (MMGV) will take part in a two-day educational field trip to the Region of Murcia, including visits to research centres and companies specialising in plant breeding.
This activity is closely related to the following courses: Genetic Improvement of Tree Species, Improvement of Ornamental Plants, and Genetic Improvement for Quality. It will allow students to complement their academic learning by gaining first-hand experience in professional environments related to plant breeding.
The trip will begin on Thursday, October 22, at 7:00 a.m., departing from the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). On the first day, the group will travel to Calasparra (Murcia) and visit IMIDA Frutales, in Paraje Macaneo, and ENZA ZADEN.
On Friday, October 23, the programme will continue with visits to KWS Semillas Ibérica and Rijk Zwaan – CED La Palma, in Cartagena. After completing the scheduled activities, the group will return to Valencia in the afternoon.
