TheNational Institute of Informatics (NII) The Tokyo University of Technology has opened a new call for partner universities, including the Tokyo University of Technology.Polytechnic University of Valencia– students can propose students to performresearch stays in its laboratories during the period from summer 2026 to March 2027.
This is an exceptional opportunity forMaster’s and PhD students in the areas of:
- Informatics and Computing
- Telecommunications and Networks
- Mathematics
- Physics
During the stay, students will be integrated into NII research teams and will collaborate in ongoing research projects.

🧭 Nature of stay
The NII stays are conceived asextracurricular internships or volunteer research opportunities, aimed at gaining experience and enriching the academic CV.
In those master’s degrees that include curricular external internships, their possible recognition could be studied.
⚠️Important: The NII advises against using this stay as a Final Master’s Thesis (TFM), since the lines of research and projects cannot be modified to suit the student’s interests.

Although the NII website sets April 10 as the final date for receipt, the UPV must conduct an internal review of the documentation and prioritize applications before submission.
Reminder: from April 3 to 13 the UPV will be on vacation (Easter).

- Undergraduate studies must be mentioned in the CV and in the Excel file, but it is not necessary to attach a transcript.
📌 Conditions of stay
- Duration: minimum 2 months (60 days) and maximum 5.5 months (165 days)
- Period: summer 2026 to March 31, 2027
- Assignment of NII:
- Approximately5,700 JPY/day (≈ 36,4 €)
- Medical insurance included
- No covers transportation costs
- Additional financing:
Possibility of requestingErasmus scholarship Internships as a complement.
🏛️ Selection process
- The UPVyou can propose up to 3 candidatesThe following are listed in order of priority.
- The internal evaluation committee shall be formed by:
- Director of the Internationalization Area (or delegated person)
- Academic Director of the applicant’s Master’s or Doctoral Program (or delegation)
- Technical staff of the Internationalization Service
- The candidatesshould not send documentation directly to NII.
- The final selection is made by a highly competitive committee of NII researchers.
- They usually prioritize profiles withresearch experience and publications.
- There is no public scale or obligation to justify decisions.
- In previous calls, the NII has selected 1 or even none of the candidates proposed by the UPV.
