Roundtable Discussion Held: “From MEMIC to the Professional World: Graduates’ Experiences”

Last May 19, 2026, the Master’s Degree Program in Environmental Assessment and Monitoring of Marine and Coastal Ecosystems (MEMIC) held a roundtable discussion “From MEMIC to the Professional World: Graduates’ Experiences”, an activity designed for master’s students to introduce them to various career paths related to the marine and coastal sectors.

The following people participated in the session: Gustavo Vega Abad, Chaguaceda Sea, Jimena López de Uralde and Álvaro Almagro, alumni of the MEMIC class of 2023–2024, who shared their experiences after completing the master’s program and explained what their transition into the workforce was like.

During the talk, the speakers addressed topics such as job hunting, the reasons that led them to pursue specific career paths, and the skills they gained from the master’s program that they currently apply in their daily work. They also provided insight into career prospects in fields related to environmental management, sustainability, research, marine conservation, and technology applied to the marine environment.

Following the presentations, a roundtable discussion was held, moderated by the professor Miguel Rodilla, during which attendees were able to ask questions and discuss career opportunities and current challenges in the industry.

This activity is part of the commitment of the Polytechnic University of Valencia with the UPV SIRVE Strategic Plan, by promoting initiatives that strengthen the connection between academic education and the professional world.
