Do you have a dream? Join a team and participate in a national competition or an international challenge.
Design Factory is the shuttle that allows UPV students to carry out projects of all kinds, promoting applied learning in which the development of transversal competencies is enhanced. Many groups aim to participate in some kind of university challenge. However, others simply serve to pursue a common interest: helping Erasmus students to settle in and get to know the city or to give computer workshops and share the maker’s culture, to give just a couple of examples.
In fact, under the umbrella of Design Factory UPV, there is room for all kinds of initiatives: more than 50 groups ranging from international exchange associations to environmental volunteering, social activism or concern for human rights, as well as competition teams in the most diverse fields and sectors: engines/aviation/supersonic trains/drones/tunnels/rockets/nanosatellites/humanoid robots/databases/computer programming/radiopharmaceuticals/particle acceleration/optics and photonics; microbiology/agri-food innovation/astronomy/sustainable construction; audiovisual production/video games; comics and anime/role-playing and simulation; music/singing and orchestration/art/design; debate and performance; chess; computing; financial management…
Design Factory UPV is the best way to put students’ knowledge to the test: it means being part of a community, sharing ideas and opinions, developing skills, making decisions and accepting responsibilities, and getting credits for carrying out activities. Participating in Design Factory UPV teams can lead to the recognition of up to 18 credits, depending on each degree. The call for this is opened at the end of each academic year, between June and July.
Among the most outstanding results obtained by the UPV teams in the last academic year are the following:
- First prize of Ecotrophelia Spain (4 Food)
- First prize of Formula Student Austria y Michigan International Speedway (FS UPV)
- Solar Decathlon Design Challenge Award (Azalea UPV)
- Champion in the flying category in the EuRoC (Faraday) competition.
- Complete System Award at the European Hyperloop Week in Switzerland (Hyperloop UPV)
