Donate school supplies for students participating in programs of the Fundación Secretariado Gitano de la Comunidad Valenciana.
The American Space Valencia and the Universitat Politècnica de València promote the crowdfunding campaign “Mochila Solidaria” to provide access to school supplies to students participating in programs of the Fundación Secretariado Gitano in the Valencian Community.
Donations, from any amount, can be made in different ways through the campaign’s website until December 23.
American Space Valencia has arranged another way of collaboration, consisting of collecting material at its headquarters, located at the 4P building at Vera campus of the UPV.
The objective of the action is to donate 55 backpacks and school supplies requested by the Foundation: folders, notebooks, erasers, pencil sharpeners, pencils, scissors, glue, pens, correctors, markers, colored pencils, highlighters…

Debra Westall, director of American Space Valencia, explains that this entity has been collaborating since 2017 with the Fundación Secretariado Gitano de la Comunidad Valenciana, promoting activities for young people, boys and girls, to promote the learning of English and skills related to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics); they have also channeled other donations of school supplies aimed at young beneficiaries and beneficiaries of the Foundation’s activities.
This year, the American Space Valencia and the UPV wanted to go further and promote the crowdfunding campaign “Mochila Solidaria” through the University’s Recruiting Office.
“The approaching Christmas and Thanksgiving holidays seemed like an ideal setting for us, as these are days when we tend to reflect on how we can help others,” said Westall.
