The Universitat Politècnica de València has held a new working session of the Sustainable Mobility Inter-Administrative Roundtable in the framework of the follow-up of the Sustainable Mobility Plan 2023-2027. The strategic document articulates 42 objectives organized into 7 lines of action to improve the mobility of the university community.
The meeting, held on May 22 at the Vera campus, brought together representatives of the following institutions: Generalitat Valenciana, València City Council, EMT València, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV), Renfe, Autoritat de Transport Metropolità de València (ATMV), and Diputació de València. This will consolidate this space as a stable forum for coordination between administrations and transport operators.
During the meeting, progress was reviewed in several key areas, such as the improvement of public transportation (commuter trains, streetcars and buses), the promotion of cycling, pedestrianization actions within the campus and the development of initiatives to promote car sharing and the electrification of mobility.
Among the actions highlighted, issues such as increasing bus and streetcar capacity, improving accessibility to the campus, expanding cycling infrastructure in the urban environment and implementing new mobility demand management solutions were addressed. The importance of sharing data and indicators among the entities involved to facilitate decision making and improve information to the university community was also highlighted.
The Sustainable Mobility Plan 2023-2027 is driven by the UPV Environment Unit, which coordinates the actions and follow-up of the plan in collaboration with the different university services and external agents.
