Last June was celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of the arrival at the port of Valencia of the humanitarian rescue ship Aquarius. This ship, abandoned by Metges sense Fronteres and SOS Méditerranée, saved 629 people from dying in the central Mediterranean off the coast of Libya. That episode triggered an unprecedented crisis in the EU -an unresolved crisis- that dynamited the already weak EU migration policy. More than 600 journalists from 140 national and international media outlets covered the arrival of the boat in Valencia, which provoked an unprecedented wave of solidarity.

The exhibition “Desenfocades: històries de migració i refugi” deals with the migration to the city of Valencia not only through the memory of this event but also by means of an approach to how the life of the survivors has been during these more than five years. It does so through two forms of expression: the photographic medium and the emerging immersive medium. In relation to the first, the exhibition contains more than 50 photographs taken by a dozen photographers and photographers of national reference. Regarding the second, the visitor will be able to consume an example of immersive narrative entitled Five years laterusing state-of-the-art virtual reality ullers for this purpose. As a third approach to the subject,  the visitor will receive as a gift the comic Why Spain?by Loopy Teller Studio and Aquarius Supervivents, illustrated by  Carlos Vallésabout the reality of the survivors and their struggle to achieve a dignified life.
