The project that will regenerate the planet’s soils will travel to Silicon Valley
València has reaffirmed this weekend as the epicenter of young entrepreneurial talent with the celebration of the national finals ofRed Bull Basement. The space of La Harinera was the scenario where Biosoil Technologies won, obtaining the direct pass to represent Spain in the International Final that will take place atSilicon Valley.
This biotech startup, born out of the ingenuity of researchers and students Alejandro Aymerich, Hugo Lluch y Clara Gonzalez and linked to IDEAS UPV, proposes a disruptive solution to one of the most critical environmental challenges: soil degradation.
What is Biosoil’s innovation?
Unlike traditional methods, Biosoil does not use aggressive chemicals. Its proposal is based on thesynthetic biology to restore the biological capacity of the land by means of:
- Programmed Bacteria: They use microbial consortia that function as biosensors and natural biofertilizers to restore the biological capacity of the soil.
- One-Shot” regeneration: The equipment works in a system where the treatment is applied only once, allowing the bacterial ecosystem to maintain and proliferate autonomously.
- Alternative to Fertilizers: The goal is to reduce dependence on synthetic chemicals, improving agricultural health in a sustainable manner.
- Project Status: They currently have aMVP (Minimum Viable Product) focused on biofertilization, with the intention of launching a first commercial solution that will enable them to finance new lines of research.
A purpose born of reality
The idea for Biosoil was not born in an isolated laboratory, but as a direct response to real problems detected after theDANA at the hackathon ” MuéveteXValència“promoted by the Princess of Girona Foundation. The project takes on special relevance in view of the warnings of organizations such as theUNESCOThe report warns that, without such interventions, a large part of the world’s soils will suffer from asevere degradation before 2050.
DreamBIG UPV 2026 Winners
This success is no coincidence, but a reflection of an unstoppable trajectory in the university ecosystem. It is worth noting thatBiosoil Technologies already won the contestUPV Dream Big on March 29th. After this new milestone, its next big event will be theJune 17 in Madridwhere they will compete against nine other teams at the national level. The group that wins in this match will also travel toSilicon Valley to complete its project in the technology capital of the world.
