“Sustainable Development Goals: 17 Reasons to Take Action”

The exhibition will be open to the public from October 27 to November 13 in the CRAI Multipurpose Room. Opening, Thursday, October 29, at 12:30 PM.

How can we help build a more sustainable, fair, and prosperous world? This is the question posed by the exhibition “Sustainable Development Goals: 17 Reasons to Take Action”, which will be on display at the Gandia campus of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) from October 27 to November 13.

Through posters created with the participation of students in the Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences, the dual degree in Environmental Sciences and Marine Sciences and Technologies, and the dual degree in Forestry and Natural Environment Engineering and Environmental Sciences, the exhibition offers a journey through the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and invites visitors to reflect on the social and environmental challenges of our time.

The message is clear: taking care of the planet and its people is everyone’s responsibility. That is why the exhibition focuses on shared responsibility and people’s ability to contribute to a more sustainable, just, and prosperous future.

17 Goals to Transform the World

Adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015, the SDGs are part of the 2030 Agenda, a global commitment that sets out 17 goals and 169 targets to advance sustainable development. Among its priorities are the eradication of poverty and hunger, gender equality, access to education, health care, water, and energy, environmental protection, and the fight against climate change.

These goals are interconnected and require the involvement of governments, institutions, businesses, and citizens. In this context, the exhibition aims to bring the 2030 Agenda closer to the university community, promote a critical and engaged perspective on current challenges, and remind us that everyday actions can also contribute to achieving these 17 goals.

The initiative also highlights the role of higher education in raising awareness about sustainability and in training professionals capable of addressing environmental and social challenges from a global perspective.

The CRAI Gandia Campus Library is joining the initiative

To complement the exhibition, the CRAI Gandia Campus Library will present a selection of items from its collection “Sustainable Development”, organized around the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

This selection offers the university community the opportunity to explore the various SDGs in greater depth, gain a better understanding of the challenges associated with sustainable development, and broaden their thinking about how to contribute to achieving them.

The materials in the collection can be viewed in the library catalog via this link: Sustainable Development – Universitat Politècnica de València.
