The Universitat Politècnica de València is honouring the 25 best secondary school teachers in the Valencian Community. The awards ceremony will take place on October 6 at the Gandia campus.
The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) is once again highlighting teaching excellence with a new edition of Magistrales, the program that recognizes the 25 best teachers in Compulsory Secondary Education, High School, and Vocational Training Programs in the Valencian Community.
The awards ceremony will be held on October 6 at the UPV campus in Gandia, which has been offering the Master’s Degree in Secondary Education Teaching since the 2024–2025 academic year.
Teachers Who Make a Difference
As they do every year, it is the first-year students at the UPV themselves who nominate candidates, thereby recognizing the professor who has had a decisive impact on their academic and personal development.
Magistrales not only highlights teachers’ dedication and daily commitment, but also honors a profession that is vital to society, emphasizing its essential role in shaping future generations.
Over the course of its nine editions, this program has recognized nearly 300 teachers from across the Valencian Community, from Vinaròs, Segorbe, and Benidorm to La Pobla de Vallbona, Cullera, Alcoy, and Elda. These are professionals with diverse backgrounds who teach both technical subjects—such as mathematics, physics, and computer science—and humanities subjects—such as language, geography, and history. Among those recognized are teachers just starting their careers and others with extensive experience, working in public, private, or state-subsidized schools. Some have also received the award on more than one occasion.
Magistrales is being held on the Gandia campus
This ninth edition takes on special significance as it is being held on the UPV campus in Gandia, where the Master’s Degree in Secondary Education Teaching has been offered since the 2024–2025 academic year. This degree provides future teachers with specialized training that qualifies them to teach in Compulsory Secondary Education, High School, and Vocational Training.
In this way, the Magistrales event in Gandia directly links recognition of those already working as teachers with the training of future generations of teachers.
As Vicenç Almenar, director of the Gandia campus, previously announced, the high demand for this degree program will make it possible, for the upcoming 2027–28 academic year, to “increase enrolment in the Technology and Computer Science and Economics tracks, as well as launch the English track.”
The UPV’s Gandia Campus will host the ceremony for this ninth edition on October 6, at 6:00 p.m., in the Main Auditorium. The event will feature Fran Tudela, popularly known as Cabrafotuda, a content creator and broadcaster.
Prior to that, a workshop has been scheduled for students in the Master’s Degree Program in Secondary Education Teaching, who will have the opportunity to meet with renowned teachers who have volunteered to participate in this initiative to share their experiences and advice on the teaching profession.
