“Senior University reminds us that the desire to learn has no expiration date”.
The students of the senior program of the Gandia Campus of the Universitat Politècnica de València have finished the academic year 2025-2026 with an event that has recognized the effort and involvement of those who continue to bet on lifelong learning.
“The student body is what gives meaning to events such as the one we are celebrating,” said the UPV Vice Rector for Art, Science, Technology and Society, Salomé Cuesta, during the closing ceremony of the course. “It is a moment that invites us to recognize the achievements and the value of something that defines the Senior University: the commitment to lifelong learning.” The vice chancellor also stressed that “the Senior University reminds us that the desire to learn has no expiration date.”
In the same vein, the director of the UPV Gandia Campus, Vicenç Almenar, stressed that “the Senior University is a space where to continue learning, but also where to create, participate and share experiences”. For Almenar, “the curiosity and the desire to learn of the senior students represent the example of what we want to be as a public university”, so he thanked the students for “keeping alive the university spirit”.
Senior campus program celebrates the close of a year marked by growth and new developments
Undoubtedly, one of the highlights of the day was the presentation of diplomas to 125 senior students, a figure that reflects the success of a program that continues to grow and consolidate year after year as a space for learning, participation and coexistence.
The 2025-2026 academic year has been marked by the expansion of the number of places and the incorporation of new subjects, responding to the growing interest in an initiative that, since its launch in the 2017-2018 academic year, has not stopped adding participants.

The management of the campus and the senior program has congratulated the students, faculty and staff involved for making possible a new edition of the Senior University at the Gandia Campus and contribute to continue being an open, participatory and intergenerational space.
For Ana Muñoz, head of the Senior University of the UPV, this event is “the culmination of an academic year, marked by the involvement of students and the consolidation of the training offer”.
For his part, Javier Estornell, coordinator of the program at the Gandia Campus, has advanced some of the novelties planned for the next course. “We will combine new content with proposals already consolidated within the senior program,” he explained. The subjects will continue to be distributed in two groups, as in the present course, and the offer of monographic courses with current topics will be expanded.
The closing ceremony of the senior course concluded with the performance of the play Sang i ceba adapted by César Monzonís and performed by the theater workshop group of the Senior University.
