The campus is participating in UPV’s Environment Week, November 9–13.
Under the slogan “UPV. Generating knowledge, renewing its energy”, the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) will hold the event from November 9 to 13 Environment Week.
Driven by the Environment Unit, this initiative invites the university community to tour the renewable energy facilities at the UPV’s various campuses (Alcoy, Vera, and Gandia) and learn how they contribute to the transition toward a more sustainable energy model.
How does the UPV’s photovoltaic network work?
The UPV’s photovoltaic systems are designed for self-consumption. The electricity generated by the solar panels is primarily used in the buildings where they are located, which helps reduce the university’s dependence on the conventional power grid.
When photovoltaic production exceeds the building’s energy needs, the excess energy can be used in other buildings on campus, preventing it from being fed into the external power grid.
In the Gandia campus, solar energy also contributes to the university’s activities and to marine and environmental research. Its photovoltaic systems make it possible to harness a renewable resource and reduce the environmental impact associated with energy consumption.
Join us and discover how we renew our energy
As part of UPV Environment Week, on Tuesday, November 10 an information booth at the Ágora on the Gandia campus. The event will take place in two time slots, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and will provide insight into how the campus’s renewable energy facilities operate and highlight their contribution to sustainability.
