Institutional Visit: Berklee at the BBAA Faculty

On February 26th, the dean received a Jim Lucchesepresident of the Berklee College of Musicand  Simone PilonBerklee Valencia’s executive director, in a meeting that strengthens the academic collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV).

Berklee Valencia has been part of the UPV since 2012.Since opening its doors in 2012, Berklee Valencia has trained more than 4,000 students from 85 countries and has an employability rate of 95%. Among its alumni are Grammy Award winners, Latin Grammy nominees and Fulbright scholarship recipients.

Throughout these years, the campus has promoted an outstanding cultural and academic activity in collaboration with institutions such as the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía and the Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània. Currently, each year it receives about 450 students of more than 30 nationalities, consolidating itself as an international and dynamic environment.

The visit coincides with a moment of growth for the center, following the recent inauguration of the expansion of approximately 900 square meters of its facilities in theCiutat de les Arts i les Ciències (City of Arts and Sciences)The new facilities include a new auditorium, a recording studio and state-of-the-art technological laboratories.

During the reception, the attendees had the opportunity to visit the exhibition“Salvem les fotos”. at the Josep Renau Hall of the Faculty of Fine Arts, presented by the hand ofPilar Boschwho guided visitors through the exhibition and explained its value. The exhibition, organized in response to the damage caused by the recent hurricane, offered an in-depth view of the image recovery process and highlighted the importance of preserving the collective memory after the catastrophe that affected Valencia.

It is worth mentioning that the exhibition closed the following day, which made the visit during the reception a unique opportunity to appreciate first-hand this significant cultural project.
