From May 26th to 28th, the Universitat Politècnica de València brought together representatives of the ten universities of the ENHANCE Alliance, the European Alliance of technological universities of which UPV is a member, for a working meeting focused on curricular innovation, learning experiences, and the design of the alliance’s shared educational pathways.

The meeting was opened by the Vice-Rector for Planning, Studies, Quality and Accreditation, José Pedro García Sabater, representing the Rector’s team. He stressed that the Alliance’s findings only transform education when those responsible for academic programmes — degree coordinators, curriculum designers and teaching staff — are given the tools and space to absorb them and turn them into concrete decisions. In his speech, he highlighted the genuine opportunities for university programmes to incorporate flexibility, sustainability, AI literacy, and interdisciplinary competences, while preserving each university’s distinctive identity.

The Learning Innovation group meeting was devoted to exploring innovative learning experiences — referred to as sandbox learning experiences — in which universities such as Politecnico di Milano, TU Delft and Warsaw University of Technology presented their own approaches in areas including collaborative learning, virtual reality and the development of transversal competences. The final day addressed the underlying question of what it means to learn in the age of artificial intelligence, with a contribution from Juan A. Marín-García of the UPV Institute of Education Sciences (ICE), and how to design programmes for future STEM students from that starting point.

The meeting of the European Educational Pathways group brought together study programme coordinators, education officers and mobility coordinators from the ten partner universities to further develop and consolidate the Thematic Paths — thematic educational pathways that allow students from any ENHANCE Alliance university to complete part of their studies at another institution within the alliance, with full academic recognition, in areas such as sustainability, entrepreneurship and artificial intelligence. For UPV students, this represents an opportunity to enrich their degree with learning experiences at universities such as TU Berlin, Chalmers University of Technology, NTNU, RWTH Aachen, Gdańsk University of Technology, Warsaw Uniniversity of Technology and Politecnico di Milano, within a shared academic framework.

The Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and Communication, José Francisco Monserrat del Río, closed the event by highlighting the importance of collaboration among European universities in building a more innovative and globally competitive Europe.
