MUISE Seminar: Power Electronics, advanced technologies for efficient energy conversion

The Master’s Degree in Electronic Systems Engineering (MUISE) concludes its program of professional seminars with a day dedicated to one of the areas with the greatest impact on the energy transition and the electrification of society: energy and energy efficiency.advanced power electronics. On this occasion we will count with the participation of professionals fromPower Electronicsa Valencian company of international reference in the development of solar inverters, energy storage systems and solutions for electric mobility.

This seminar will allow attendees to learn first-hand how energy conversion systems currently used in photovoltaic plants, battery storage systems and high-efficiency energy infrastructures are designed.

Seminar information

Title: Power Electronics
Date: July 2, 2026
Schedule: 15:00 – 20:00 h
Location: Basement Classroom, Building 7F
Speakers:

  • Llorenç LatorreHead of the Power Hardware R&D Area.
  • Consuelo Gómez-ZarzuelaUniversity Relations Manager.

Content

The seminar will address the design and operation of advanced power converters for renewable generation and energy storage applications. Through real industrial development examples, participants will be able to understand the main technological challenges associated with the design of high power and high efficiency electronic equipment.

Among the topics to be discussed are:

  • Converter architectures for photovoltaic applications and storage systems.
  • Operating principles of power semiconductors.
  • Loss mechanisms in electronic converters.
  • Switching and control strategies to maximize efficiency.
  • Thermal design and reliability considerations.
  • Industrial equipment development and validation methodologies.

In addition, real examples of products and applications developed by the company will be presented, showing how the concepts studied in the master’s degree courses are transferred to the design of commercial systems with a high technological impact.
