UPV, Spanish university with the greatest social and economic impact in the world
The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) is the Spanish university with the greatest social and economic impact in the world. This is recognized by 2025 THE University Impact Rankings, the seventh edition of the ranking prepared by Times Higher Education (THE) -considered together with the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU, popularly known as the Shanghai ranking) and Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) as one of the top three indicators of university quality in the world – and whose resultsThe results were made public early this morning.
In addition, THE Impact Ranking includes the UPV among the 200 most important universities in the world in this field, and logically, in view of the above, as the most prominent of the national technological universities and number 1 in the Valencian Community.
Methodology
The ranking classifies higher education institutions based on their commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), an initiative promoted by the United Nations (UN) in 2015.
Specifically, THE calculates each institution’s overall annual position by combining its score on SDG 17 (Partnerships to Achieve the Goals) with its three highest scores on the other SDGs. For the overall ranking, the final score is an average of the total scores for the last two years.
