Admission requirements

Admission to the Master’s Degree in Computer and Network Engineering (MUICR) is regulated by the Academic Committee of the Degree, which is in charge of establishing the evaluation criteria for the admission of students, in compliance with the regulations of Pre-enrolment and Admission to university master’s degree courses at the UPV. This committee is responsible for setting the order of preference in the allocation of places, following the directives of the vice-rectorate responsible for student affairs.

The master’s degree is especially aimed at graduates in areas related to computer engineering, embedded systems and communication networks, including degrees in computer engineering, telecommunications engineering and industrial engineering, among others. However, graduates from other disciplines can also be admitted if they meet the requirements established by the Academic Committee.

The composition and functions of the Academic Committee of the Degree are regulated in article 4.2 of the Regulations on Academic Regulations and Student Evaluation, which defines the procedures and requirements applicable to the admission process. For more information on these regulations, please consult the following link: Academic Regulations

Students interested in pursuing the master’s degree must follow the pre-enrollment process established by the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) and comply with the specific admission requirements of the degree.

Admission in the case of disabled students

For students with specific educational needs derived from a disability, appropriate support and counseling services will be established to assess the need for curricular adaptations, itineraries or alternative studies, through the support of the UPV’s CEDAT Foundation.

The UPV’s CEDAT Foundation offers information and advice to members of the university community with disabilities, as well as accompaniment and support in the classroom. In addition, it provides technical assistance for the study to those members of the student body who, because of their special educational needs, require it. It also promotes and manages training and employment actions for this group, both inside and outside the UPV campus, and offers different services from its Special Employment Center.

Likewise, the foundation carries out projects for the elimination of architectural and urban barriers, comprehensive accessibility plans, accessibility audits, project reviews, advice and design of ideal accessibility models.

Admission criteria

In order to access the Master in Computer and Network Engineering (MUICR), no additional training is required for those students who meet the general admission requirements and the specific admission criteria established.

A

Evaluation of the academic record

Priority is given to students with the highest average grade point average. In the case of degrees obtained outside Spain with qualification systems different from those of Royal Decree 1125/2003, it will be necessary to present a declaration of equivalence of average grades issued by the Ministry responsible for Universities. If this document is not provided, a grade of 5 will be assigned as the average grade for admission.

B

Correspondence of the entrance qualification

The correspondence of the entrance qualification with the competencies of the master’s degree is evaluated. The extent to which the candidate accredits training in key areas such as computers, networks and programming will be analyzed.

C

Curriculum vitae

Complementary training and professional experience in areas related to the master’s degree will be valued.

Additional criteria

  • Foreign students whose official language is not Spanish must prove a B2 level by means of an official certificate recognized by CRUE or ACLES.
  • The Master’s Academic Committee may conduct a personal interview to evaluate the candidate’s linguistic competence.
  • The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) allocates at least 5% of the places to students with a degree of disability equal to or greater than 33% or with permanent educational support needs. The allocation of places within this quota will be made according to the applicant’s admission score.

Beques

Studies leading to an official university degree allow access to grants and subsidies. The Ministry of Education, the Generalitat Valenciana and the Universitat Politècnica de València itself call for different grants and financial aid.

General scholarships for students pursuing post-compulsory studies valid throughout the national territory. The scholarship will consist of the exemption of the payment of taxes for the provision of university academic services (registration fees), corresponding to subjects enrolled for the first time. They may also obtain other fixed and variable amounts, if they meet the requirements established for this purpose.

In order to be awarded the scholarship, it is necessary to prove administrative residence in the Valencian Community and not exceed the income limits established by the call for applications, as well as comply with the general and academic requirements. The scholarship consists of the exemption of the payment of taxes for the provision of university academic services (registration fees), for subjects enrolled in first and second enrollment.

The Universitat Politècnica de València offers various grants or aid such as the social action grants, the lunch grants or the collaboration training grants. There are also grants for athletes.

The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) offers various grants and financial aid to facilitate the access and continuity of students in its master’s degree programs, including the Master’s Degree in Computer and Network Engineering (MUICR). These grants are aimed at both national and international students and are open to those with outstanding academic merits or specific financial needs. Among the main options are the general grants from the Spanish Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, which cover tuition fee exemptions and may include additional assistance depending on family income and academic performance. In addition, the Generalitat Valenciana announces grants that allow exemption from tuition fees for students residing in the Valencian Community who meet the established economic and academic requirements.

The UPV also offers the Social Action Grants “UPV Students”, aimed at students with special financial needs who do not have other grants. These grants can cover up to €900 of tuition fees.

Students interested in studying the MUICR can consult the UPV Grants and Financial Aid Locator to obtain updated information on the calls for applications and specific requirements. We recommend that you carefully review the terms and conditions of each grant to ensure a correct and timely application.

Access to pre-registration

Admission to the Master in Computer and Network Engineering (MUICR) follows the pre-enrollment and admission process established by the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) for its official masters. This process is carried out in different phases, with specific dates and deadlines that are updated annually. Pre-registration is carried out through the UPV’s official platform, where candidates must complete their application within the established deadlines and provide the required documentation according to their degree, whether obtained at the UPV, at another Spanish university or at a foreign institution.

The procedure includes several phases of admission, in which the applications are reviewed and evaluated according to the selection criteria established by the Academic Committee of the degree. Although some of the initial phases of admission, such as phase 0, are not compulsory and many masters do not include them, the MUICR does consider them, which allows for early pre-admission, in February. This is especially beneficial for international students who require a student visa, as it makes it easier for them to complete the paperwork in advance and ensure that they are admitted to the master’s program in the best possible conditions.

Once the evaluation process has been completed in each of the admission phases, the pre-enrollment results are notified to students, and accepted candidates can formalize their enrollment within the indicated deadlines. For more information on the calendar, deadlines and specific pre-enrollment requirements, interested parties can access the official UPV Master’s degree pre-enrollment page.
