Admission Requirements and Documentation
To formalise your application for the PlantHealth Master’s degree, candidates must submit the following documentation through our official platform:
1. Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree: An official degree (minimum 180 ECTS) in Agronomy, Agriculture, or related fields. It is mandatory to provide evidence of at least 4 ECTS specifically in Plant Health or Crop Protection.
- Postgraduate Degrees: If you hold a Master’s or PhD, copies of all diplomas must be attached.
2. Academic Certification
- Transcript of Records: An official document detailing your full academic history for your Bachelor’s degree. If you have completed postgraduate studies, the corresponding transcripts must also be included.
3. Language Proficiency (English)
A minimum level of B2 (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages – CEFR) is required.
- Accepted Official Exams: IELTS, TOEFL, CAE/CPE/FCE, ISE, ESOL, OTE, or PTE.
- Non-accepted certificates: The programme does not accept Duolingo certificates, TOEIC, online courses, or certificates issued by universities or private language academies.
- Exemptions: Native English speakers or candidates who have completed their university studies entirely in English (requires an official certificate from the home university).
- Note: Submitting a recent official exam is considered an added value that strengthens your application.
4. Letters of Recommendation
- Two letters of recommendation signed by university professors or employers must be provided.
- Each letter must include: the issuer’s contact information, a signature, and the official stamp of the entity or institution.
5. Curriculum Vitae
- The use of the Europass format is recommended, although other professional formats are accepted.
6. Proof of Residence
- This document is only required for finally selected students.
- Accepted documents include census certificates (empadronamiento), employment or academic certificates, or official documents issued by local authorities.
Important Additional Information
- Translation and Legalisation: Upon admission, students will receive personalised instructions regarding document translation and legalisation, as requirements vary depending on the assigned host university.
- Application Procedure: Applications are managed exclusively online via the portal: Application Procedure – PlantHealth.
- Deadlines: Please ensure your application is submitted within the two call periods established in the official calendar:
- First call: From 1 October to 31 December. Only applications received during this period will be considered for an Erasmus Mundus (EMJM) scholarship.
- Second call: From 20 May to 15 June. Only for self-funded students.
Students in the final year of Bachelor’s studies
If you have not yet graduated, you may still apply, provided you complete your studies before the end of August. To do so, select “YES” on the preliminary requirements question in the form, attach a university certificate confirming your enrolment in the final year (including the expected graduation date), and upload your most recent transcript of records. Please note that your selection will be cancelled if you do not complete your studies before the programme begins in September.
Selection Criteria
Applications meeting the admission requirements will be evaluated by the PlantHealth Selection Committee. The scoring process is based on academic excellence and professional potential, according to the following weighting:

Academic Record and Merits (60%)
This is the primary component of the evaluation. The committee will assess:
- The Grade Point Average (GPA) of the academic transcript.
- Other relevant merits, such as additional training, voluntary internships, awards, or previous experience in the sector.

Reference letters (20%)
The candidate’s suitability will be evaluated through recommendations from professors or employers who can attest to their skills, work ethic, and research or professional profile.
C
Personal motivation (20%)
An assessment of the candidate’s commitment and aspirations.
- Format: A brief statement of purpose included in the online application form.
- Length: Maximum of 1,000 characters (including spaces).
Please note: These criteria may be updated in future editions by decision of the Selection Committee to ensure the continued excellence of the programme.
Evaluation Procedure
Once the application deadline has passed, the Committee will review all submitted documentation. Selected candidates will be notified via the official Master’s platform in accordance with the established calendar.
Students with Specific Needs
The PlantHealth Master’s programme, in collaboration with the UPV’s CEDAT Foundation, guarantees an inclusive and accessible learning environment. We provide specific support and advisory services for students with special educational needs arising from a disability.

European Commission Financial Support
To facilitate full participation in the programme, the Master’s offers a specific grant from the European Commission. This funding is intended to cover essential expenses derived from special needs, such as:
- Personal assistance.
- Technical or furniture adaptations.
- Specialised transport services.

Financial support
Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters (EMJM) Scholarships
Scholarship Coverage
- Participation Costs: Covers 100% of participation costs, comprehensive health insurance, and all mandatory academic costs.
- Monthly Stipend: €1,400 per month for a maximum of 24 months (intended to cover travel, visa, installation, and living expenses).
Eligibility
- Open Call: Available to both EU and non-EU students.
- Additional Scholarships: Extra scholarships are often reserved for students from specific priority regions, offering the same coverage as the standard EMJM scholarships.
Restrictions
- No Double Funding: You cannot receive other EU grants simultaneously while holding an EMJM scholarship.
- One-time Limit: You are ineligible to apply if you have previously been a beneficiary of an EMJM scholarship.
Erasmus+ Grant for the Second Year (M2)
Self-funded students, regardless of nationality, may apply for a non-means-tested grant during their second year.
- Amount: Approximately €300 per month (varies depending on the destination).
- Purpose: To help defray additional expenses.
- Note: This is a supplementary aid and is not sufficient to cover basic living costs such as rent or food.
University of Padua (UNIPD) Scholarships
Students spending their second year (M2) at UNIPD may be eligible for:
- Regional Scholarships (Veneto): Benefits vary based on family income and may include tuition fee waivers, subsistence allowances, and reduced-price accommodation or meals.
- UNIPD Joint Programme Scholarships: Second-year students can apply for grants to cover costs for the fourth semester spent outside Italy. Availability and amounts depend on annual funding.

Paid Internships during the Master’s Thesis
When the Master’s Thesis (TFM) is conducted within a company, students may receive a scholarship, a monthly salary, or other financial support in certain countries, such as France or Germany.

Online Application Access
The application for admission to the Erasmus Mundus PlantHealth Master is made exclusively onliPre-enrolment for the Erasmus Mundus PlantHealth Master’s degree is managed exclusively online. Both candidates applying for an Erasmus Mundus (EMJM) scholarship and self-funded students must complete the same online form.

Participation costs
The total cost of the PlantHealth Master’s programme is determined by the student’s residency/citizenship and is paid in two instalments:

Note: These amounts are subject to review and may vary in future editions. The first payment serves as a seat reservation and must be paid before the start of the programme.
What do the participation costs include?
The fees cover all necessary academic, administrative, and support services:
- Tuition and Fees: Official enrolment at the consortium universities, application fees, academic recognition, and issuance of diplomas.
- Insurance: Comprehensive health and accident insurance for the full two-year duration of the programme.
- Specialised Training: Access to e-learning modules, language courses, and a 2-month intensive French course (including accommodation) for students spending their second year in France.
- Facilities: Full access to libraries, laboratories, and sports facilities.
- Events and Travel: Costs for the field trip (1st year), attendance at the Final Conference, and the graduation ceremony (accommodation not included).
- Student Support: Orientation sessions (including 3 nights of accommodation) and advisory services for residency permit procedures.
Resitting Subjects
If a student does not successfully pass a programme component, they must pay the fees for a second (or subsequent) enrolment. The cost of resitting subjects or exams depends on the internal regulations of the university where the resit takes place.
