Description of the title

The Master’s Degree in Development Cooperation is a high-level training program that addresses the complexity of issues related to development and poverty. Offered by five Valencian public universities, this master’s degree provides a solid theoretical basis together with a specialization in Project Management and Development Processes at the UPV.

Its objective is to train professionals capable of understanding the economic, social and political dynamics that generate inequality and poverty, while developing practical skills to design, manage and evaluate development interventions. Graduates will be able to work in international organizations, NGOs and various institutions dedicated to development cooperation.

Objectives of the degree

To increase knowledge about the economic, social and political forces that explain and cause poverty and inequality.

To provide criteria for the analysis of the political, social, economic and cultural reality in the field of cooperation.

To deepen operational strategies on the quality and effectiveness of the concept of development cooperation.

Develop skills for the design, planning, management and evaluation of development interventions.

Recognize the interrelationships between local and global actors in the context of development.

Internships

During the Master’s Degree in Development Cooperation, students have the opportunity to carry out external internships that allow them to apply the knowledge acquired in a real professional environment.

These internships can be carried out in non-governmental organizations, public institutions, or companies in the field of development cooperation, which facilitates a direct immersion in the dynamics and challenges of the sector.

This experience is key to develop specific competencies in project management and development processes, as well as to foster a deep understanding of the socio-political and economic realities that affect cooperation.

There are more than 1,000 destinations to choose from in Europe (Erasmus scholarships), the United States, Japan, South Korea, China, Australia and Latin America, among others. Master’s Thesis

To obtain the title of Master’s Degree in Development Cooperation, you must defend a Master’s Thesis. The objective of this work is to apply the knowledge acquired during the master’s degree in a real project or research related to development cooperation.

Students are expected to be able to design, plan and evaluate interventions in policies, plans, programs and projects, addressing real problems of development and poverty, taking into account criteria of quality and effectiveness in their proposals.
