Admission requirements

To access the Master’s Degree in Biomedical Biotechnology at the UPV, it is necessary to comply with the general access requirements established in the Royal Decree 822/2021 and the Pre-registration and Admission Regulations for University Master’s Degrees at the UPV.

The Academic Committee of the Degree will establish the evaluation criteria for the allocation of places, according to the Pre-registration and Admission regulations of the UPV.

Recommended entry profile

The master’s degree is designed for graduates in areas such as Biotechnology, Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedicine, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, among others. Applicants must have studied fundamental subjects such as cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, as well as human physiology.

Access qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees in Biology, Biochemistry, Biology, Pharmacy, Medicine, Biotechnology, Biomedicine, Health Sciences or other related degrees are eligible. Equivalent national or international degrees will also be considered.

Language requirements

Applicants whose native language is not Spanish must prove a C1 level of Spanish and a B2 level of English through official certificates (CRUE or ACLES) or an evaluation interview.

Reservation of seats

5% of the places are reserved for students with a degree of disability equal to or greater than 33% or with specific educational needs related to disability.

Admission for disabled students

For students with specific educational needs arising from a disability, appropriate support and counseling services will be established to assess the needs of curricular adaptations, itineraries or alternative studies, through the support of the CEDAT Foundation of the UPV.

The CEDAT Foundation of the UPV offers information and advice to members of the university community with disabilities, as well as accompaniment and support in the classroom. In addition, it provides technical aids for study to those members of the student body who, due to their special educational needs, require it. It also promotes and manages training and employment actions for this group, both inside and outside the UPV campuses, and offers different services from its Special Employment Center.

The foundation also carries out projects for the elimination of architectural and urban barriers, comprehensive accessibility plans, accessibility audits, project reviews, advice and design of ideal accessibility models.

Admission criteria

Admission to the master’s degree is based on objective and transparent criteria that evaluate the academic record and accredited merits of the candidates. The Academic Committee of the Degree is the body in charge of evaluating the applications and establishing the order of priority in the awarding of places. Priority will be given to candidates with the best academic record, training appropriate to the subject matter of the master’s degree and a high degree of motivation to develop a professional career in biomedicine.

Previous qualification

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in related fields such as Biology, Biochemistry, Biology, Pharmacy, Medicine, Biotechnology, Biomedicine, Health Sciences or other related degrees is required.

Academic curriculum

The academic record and previous training in subjects related to biomedicine and biotechnology will be evaluated.

Adequacy of the profile

Coherence between the candidate’s training and the objectives of the master’s degree will be considered, as well as previous experience in research laboratories, biotechnology industry or in the biomedical field, if applicable.

Motivation letter

The justification of interest in the master’s degree will be evaluated, as well as the professional objectives and training expectations.

Scholarships

Studies leading to an official university degree allow access to scholarships and grants. The Ministry of Education, the Generalitat Valenciana and the Universitat Politècnica de València itself offer various scholarships and grants.

General scholarships for students pursuing post-compulsory studies valid throughout the national territory. The scholarship will consist of exemption from payment of fees for the provision of university academic services (tuition fees), corresponding to subjects enrolled for the first time. Other fixed and variable amounts may also be obtained, if the requirements established for this purpose are met.

For the awarding of the scholarship it is necessary to prove administrative residence in the Valencian Community and not to exceed the income thresholds established by the call, as well as to comply with the general and academic requirements. The scholarship consists of the exemption from the payment of fees for the provision of university academic services (tuition fees), for subjects enrolled in first and second enrollment.

The Universitat Politècnica de València offers various scholarships or grants such as social action grants, canteen grants or collaboration training grants. There are also grants for sportsmen and women.

Pre-registration is the procedure used to order all the applications received by each university master’s degree, according to the access requirements that have been established and the evaluation of the merits presented by each applicant.
