We are working alongside the Institute of Education Sciences as we look to streamline generic student outcomes in UPV degrees. The project involves condensing the current 13 student outcomes into 5 dimensions that clearly reflect the skills required of our students.
This project takes a threefold approach: to assist in evaluation by teachers, to further understanding by society and to bring together the different requirements of evaluation agencies at national (ANECA quality seals), European (EURO-INF and EUROACE quality seals) and international (EAC-ABET) levels.
The 5 dimensions of generic student outcomes
Act with ethics and professional responsibility in the face of social, environmental and economic
challenges.
Propose creative and innovative solutions to complex situations or problems, specific to the field of
knowledge.
Collaborate effectively in work teams, assuming responsibilities and leadership roles and contributing to collective improvement and development.
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, adapting to the characteristics of the situation
and the audience.
Act autonomously in learning, making informed decisions in different contexts
Where are they acquired?
- In the official bachelor’s and master’s degrees, generic student outcomes are worked on through teaching methodologies in the courses of the sillabus. For example, in the degrees, there will be courses where the student will work them from the first year to the branch or mention courses.
- They are also reinforced in the optional courses of the syllabus, in the bachelor’s or master’s thesis, in the curricular internships and in student activities such as generación espontánea.
How are they evaluated?
- All the courses evaluate content and skills. Among the last ones are included the generic student outcomes. Therefore, they are curricular and they are evaluated within the subjects.
- A generic student outcome is evaluated as “Satisfactory” or “In process”. There is no numerical mark.
- The evaluation is described in the teaching guide of the course description of each course.
How are they displayed?
- You can see which general outcome is worked and evaluated in and evaluates a subject in its teaching guide.
- You also have this information on the official website of the title. In the left menu of the Study Plan, you will see the Outcomes submenu.
- Each student has a utility on their Intranet. It is the “Generic Student Outcomes Assesment – Portfolio”.
- In addition, they can also be consulted in the title file if the informative addition is requested. In this addition to the file, the courses and activities where the student has obtained a “Satisfactory” are listed.
