Top students

The UPV recognizes the 600 students with the best transcripts and the 120 with the highest entrance grades.

They combine talent and effort, and their results are a true reflection. They are brilliant students, and the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), proud of them, has recognized the 600 students with the best records of the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 courses and the 120 students with the highest access grades of 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 in a ceremony that took place in the auditorium of the Nexus building.

The event, chaired by the rector of the UPV, José E. Capilla, was also attended by the rector of the Miguel Hernández University of Elche, Juan José Ruiz, and the general director of Universities, José Antonio Pérez, among other personalities.

6 extraordinary awards

These awards, established in 2007-2008 to recognize the students with the best entrance grades to the UPV, have been growing during the following years, distinguishing, in turn, the students with the best academic records of each year.

Specifically, this year 60 awards have been granted to students with the best admission grades from the University Entrance Exams or Higher Level Training Cycles in the 2023-2024 academic year and others corresponding to the 2024-2025 academic year.

Likewise, 63 awards were given to first year students, 59 to second year students, 54 to third year students, 52 to fourth year students and 8 to fifth year students, all of them corresponding to the 2022-2023 academic year, as well as 56 to students who have completed their undergraduate studies with the best grades during that period.

Similarly, the UPV has recognized 64 first-year students, 63 second-year students, 58 third-year students, 53 fourth-year students and 10 fifth-year students with the best grades for the 2023-2024 academic year, in addition to awarding 60 prizes to students who have completed their undergraduate studies during the aforementioned academic year.

In addition to all this, the UPV has awarded 6 extraordinary prizes -three per year- to the best records, which include an exemption from the payment of public prices for academic services in the event that the awarded graduates formalize their enrollment in a university master’s degree taught at the UPV.

José E. Capilla invites the brightest files to complete their integral education

“Welcoming this event is one of the most wonderful things a rector can do,” said the head of the UPV, José E. Capilla. “To see the joy of this recognition, which is so necessary … because people need recognition for our achievements, for our efforts,” he added.

In his message to the award winners, the rector also wanted to highlight the student body’s actions during the tragedy of October 29, which forced the postponement of an event that, for this reason, this year welcomes twice as many award winners. “With respect to the DANA, I want to remember the example set by the university community and, especially, the student body, and many of you who are here today were there, trying to help by all possible means,” he thanked.

Finally, the rector wanted to send a message to the award winners, reminding them that, in addition to their academic brilliance, they can complete their training with all the extracurricular offerings of the university: “The UPV is committed to providing a comprehensive training to students, a training that goes beyond the conventional, beyond what is learned in the laboratory, in the classroom … The UPV goes beyond the curriculum, highlighting the more than 10,000 paid internships that we manage each year. It is very difficult for a UPV student who wants to do an internship throughout his or her career to be left without it. Not to mention the opportunities for international mobility, collaborations with departments and research institutes, sports activities, student representation, Spontaneous Generation, a unique program in the Spanish university system that continues to accumulate success and where we already have more than 5,000 students involved … a huge range of possibilities that helps to achieve this comprehensive training.

“Some of you are already about to finish, but others have a long way to go within the UPV, and that is why I tell you, so that you try to make the most of this menu of possibilities offered by the university, because it is this comprehensive training, in which the UPV also values, for example, entrepreneurship activities, which will prepare you for your future,” he added before concluding by recalling the connection of the UPV with its social and economic environment.

“We are the university with the largest number of chairs and business classrooms currently active, with more than 110. And what these chairs allow is, with resources that come mainly from companies, and also from public administrations, to complement your training, helping you to obtain profiles closer to those you are going to find when you undertake your professional project,” he concluded.

Victoria González: “The foundation acquired at the UPV has always been with me”.

Professional with more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications, acoustics, e-commerce and medical device sectors who has held roles of high technical responsibility, strategic leadership and project management in his own companies as well as in private sector firms, Victoria Eugenia González Gutiérrez graduated in Telecommunication Engineering, Sound and Image for the UPV Gandia campus., UPV Alumni and co-founder of IONCLINICS & DEIONIC SL, was the personality chosen to address the award winners.

“Today we celebrate your talent and your effort. You all share something in common, you have demonstrated academic excellence, and that deserves public recognition like this,” said the UPV Alumni. “A few years ago, I was in your situation, with the same desire to learn and also with doubts about the path to follow. What I didn’t know then was that the UPV was not only going to give me a solid technical training, but also a way of thinking, a way of analyzing problems, innovating and working in a team,” she added.

A professional of recognized prestige, González endorses the influence of the UPV throughout his outstanding career: “I have been able to verify that the basis acquired at the UPV has always accompanied me, curiosity, technical rigor, critical capacity, and above all, the confidence that engineering can improve people’s lives. But in addition to academics, the UPV gave me something very valuable, which is a community. Being part of Alumni UPV has allowed me to keep that link alive with the university, collaborate on projects, participate in initiatives and keep in touch with colleagues who, like me, believe in giving back to the university part of what we received from it.

In this regard, González wanted to emphasize, in a special way, the value of UPV Alumni: “Formed by more than 78,000 graduates, UPV Alumni is a network that not only offers belonging and shared pride, but also very specific opportunities that will open doors in your academic and professional future. The university does not end with a course or a diploma, the UPV is a continuous space for growth, innovation and collaboration, and you are an example of the spirit of self-improvement that distinguishes this university,” he concluded.
