Inauguration of the mural dedicated to Chelo Loureiro

Chelo Loureiro is one of the key figures in animated film. Founder of Abano Productions,the Galician production company has produced television series, documentaries, short and feature films that have won countless awards and have been screened at numerous national and international festivals.

Active member of the Women Filmmakers and Audiovisual Media Association (CIMA)Loureiro has always defended an auteur cinema with its own voice, as well as supporting emerging talent through the production of works to promote young filmmakers.

In 2021, Loureiro made the leap to directing with Valentina. The film, winner of the Goya Award for best animated film in 2022, tells the story of a girl with Down syndrome who dreams of becoming a trapeze artist. A musical tale about inclusion and diversity inspired by a personal story.

Animation with its own voice

Director, producer and screenwriter. Chelo Loureiro studied film and television, and specialized in the management of companies in the communication sector, working in several Galician media. Chelo Loureiro, one of the 50 most influential women in Spanish cinema and audiovisual according to the Forbes Women List, will give the conference “Your professional path” at the Gandia campus on Thursday, October 2, at 12 noon.

Prior to that, at 11:30 a.m., the inauguration of the urban art mural depicting her, created by the artist Flug. The work is located on the second floor of building A and joins the series of murals distributed throughout the Gandia campus that pay tribute to outstanding women in the world of science and the arts.
