Inés Escobar Castañ, student of the Double degree in Business Administration and Management + Tourism and of the Master’s Degree in Tourism Intelligence which teaches the Gandia campus of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, has been awarded for her Final Degree Project (TFG) “Analysis of the accessibility of the tourist destination Gandia and evaluation of the social profitability (SROI) of the actions of the DTI Plan” with the prize awarded by the Prosperity Chair of the Miguel Hernández University (UMH) in the framework of the promotion of the Sustainable Development Goals (ODS) endowed with 500 euros.

“The award highlights the effort behind each Final Degree Project, but above all it sends us an important message: that research on social welfare and inclusion and sustainability is increasingly relevant. This type of initiative helps to promote research in the field of social responsibility from the first university stage. That is why we receive this award as a recognition, but also as a commitment for all that remains to be done”, said Inés on behalf of all the people awarded by the UMH Chair during the II Meeting of the Network of Chairs in Cooperation and Sustainable Development.

The work “Analysis of the accessibility of the Gandia tourist destination and evaluation of the social profitability (SROI) of the actions of the DTI Plan”, co-directed by Professor Bernat Roig Merino, “studies the current situation of the smart tourist destination Gandia from the perspective of universal accessibility using the Mental Models methodology, to compare the point of view and opinions of three local stakeholders: private tourism sector, public sector and groups in the field of accessibility. In addition, “it uses the SROI (Social Return on Investment) tool to calculate the social profitability of the actions carried out by the Gandia City Council to improve the accessibility of the municipality within the framework of the Smart Tourism Destination Plan 2020-2025”.

Within the framework of the II Meeting of the Network of Chairs in Cooperation and Sustainable DevelopmentThe awards were presented to the best bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral theses with an impact on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), awarded by the five Valencian Chairs in Cooperation and Sustainable Development.
