A visual journey through marine biodiversity, with a special focus on the Mediterranean ecosystem.
From October 6 to 22, the Gandia campus of the Uniersitat Politècnica de València (UPV) invites you to discover the extraordinary biodiversity found in the seas and oceans through the exhibition “Explore the Deep Blue”. This photography exhibition features a selection of images focusing on marine flora and fauna.
The Mediterranean: A Heritage Waiting to Be Discovered
With a special focus on the species that inhabit the Mediterranean Sea, the exhibition aims to highlight the natural richness of our coastlines, emphasizing their ecological, cultural, social, and economic importance. “Our goal is to introduce the public to the incredible biodiversity found in marine ecosystems, while also raising awareness about the importance of their conservation”, explains Víctor Gallego, a researcher at the Institute of Animal Science and Technology (ICTA) and the project lead.
In addition to showcasing marine biodiversity, “Explore the Deep Blue” highlights the research being conducted by UPV staff in the field of oceanography. “The UPV has a long history of research into aquatic ecosystems, with a wide range of research areas related to the study and conservation of the marine environment”.
The exhibition being held on campus is one of the projects selected in the PC_ACTS 2026 call for proposals, a program that promotes cultural and scientific outreach activities. Furthermore, the proposal aligns “with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 14, Life Below Water, by promoting the conservation of biodiversity and the enhancement of the natural heritage of aquatic ecosystems”.
The exhibition “Explore the Deep Blue” will be open to the public from October 6 to 22 in the Exhibition Hall at the UPV’s Gandia Campus (Building 1G, ground floor).
