European Mobility Week 2026

On Tuesday, the 22nd, we celebrated Car-Free Day.

The Gandia campus of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) is joining in the commemoration of the European Mobility Week 2026. The goal is to promote more sustainable modes of transportation among the university community.

That’s why the Tuesday, September 22, coinciding with the Car-Free Day, those who come to campus using sustainable modes of transportation will receive a reward. Thus, students, faculty and researchers, as well as technical, management, administrative, and service staff who arrive on foot, by bicycle, by scooter, or by public transportation will be able to pick up a gift.

The promotion will run from 7:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., or while supplies last.

This event is part of the program organized by the UPV through the Environment Unit, has organized events at its campuses in Alcoy, Gandia, and Vera to promote alternatives to private vehicles and raise awareness about the environmental impact of daily commutes.

Strategic Plan for Sustainable Mobility

In addition, as part of European Mobility Week, the goal is to promote the Strategic Plan for Sustainable Mobility within the university community. This document reflects the UPV’s commitment to sustainable mobility: the impact of daily commutes and the promotion of alternatives offered by the university.

One of the steps taken to achieve this was the launch, in March, of Policar UPV: a carpooling app aimed at the Politècnica university community. Its main advantages include reduced emissions, savings on travel expenses, and the financial benefit provided by the energy credit associated with shared rides.

In addition, this academic year the UPV is introducing new charging stations for electric vehicles. In this news story You have all the information about the new charging stations and the number of charging sessions recorded in recent months, including those on the Gandia campus.

To use this service for electric vehicles, all you need is the Umbrella emobility app (available on the Play Store and App Store).
