University audiovisual talent

The Campus of Gandia of the UPV hosts the eighth edition of thepitchingof the Valencian audiovisual organized by À Punt.

From the classroom to the set. The Gandia Campus of the Universitat Politècnica de València will host next Wednesday June 3rd the eighth edition of the Valencian Audiovisual Pitching an initiative promoted by À Punt Radiotelevisió Valenciana together with the six Valencian universities – Universitat Politècnica de València, Universitat de València, Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche, Universidad de Alicante, Universitat Jaume I and Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera – with studies related to audiovisual creation.

The event, to be held in the Aula Magna, aims to connect emerging creative talent from universities with the public and private audiovisual sector. To this end, the organization will bring together students, faculty and representatives of production companies, distributors and multimedia platforms interested in learning about new audiovisual projects and formats.

Thanks to this event, the Gandia Campus of the UPV once again becomes the venue for the meeting after having already hosted the second edition of the contest and consolidates itself as one of the reference spaces for the promotion of Valencian university audiovisual talent.

Salvadora, Old wives’ tale and So among the finalist projects

Of the 34 proposals submitted this year, the organization has selected ten finalist projects based on criteria such as originality, formal quality, social impact and feasibility. Three of the ten selected projects belong to UPV students. They are Salvadora by Laia Duarte i Pardo, a student of the Degree in Audiovisual Communication; Old wives’ tale developed by Niko Díaz García, Isaac Serrano, Gabriel Camacho García, Asunción Alcaraz Ros, Aitana Sampedro Izquierdo, Jesús Díaz Rodríguez, and Laura Flores Carmona, students of the Master’s Degree in Animation; and So by Andrea Cerdà, Àlex Galiana and Mònica Santolaria, also of the Master’s Degree in Animation.

Likewise, the UPV projects have stood out especially in the jury’s assessment: Salvadora obtained the second best overall score of all the papers presented, while the second best overall score of all the papers presented was Old wives’ tale won the third and So the fourth best qualification, as explained by the professor of the Campus of Gandia of the UPV, Germán Llorca.

During the meeting, each team will have seven minutes to defend its project before experts from the audiovisual industry, representatives of production associations, television networks and invited national professionals.

In addition, the day will include face-to-face bilateral meetings between the participating teams and interested production companies, with the aim of promoting future collaborations and professional opportunities for the students.

The pitching Valencian audiovisual industry has established itself as a reference platform to detect and make visible university talent in areas such as Audiovisual Communication, Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations, Fine Arts, Multimedia, Animation, Digital Branding and Video Games, promoting direct contact between the university and the audiovisual industry.
