The initiative, in place since 2016, brings together high-level students in concerts and activities that combine artistic excellence and acoustic outreach.
The Gandia Campus of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) has once again brought together young musical talents in the meeting with professional conservatories of the Valencian Community. The event is articulated through concerts and educational activities that combine scientific dissemination and musical excellence.
Professor Jesús Alba, from the organization, explained that “this collaboration began in 2016 with the Josep Climent Professional Conservatory of Music in Oliva and the Rafael Talens Pelló Professional Conservatory of Music in Cullera; later the Josep Melcior Gomis Professional Conservatory of Music in Ontinyent joined in.” One of the most outstanding actions is the musical meeting of conservatories which is held every February at the Gandia Campus.
During this event, the participating centers “elaborate a joint musical program and their students attend specialized conferences that address the relationship between music and acoustics, thus reinforcing the link between art and science”.
In addition, “in 2017 the following was launched concert of the winners of the Chamber Music Competition. This is an event that has been consolidated in the cultural calendar despite the forced interruption during the pandemic”, said Jesús Alba. This concert, which is usually held between late April and early May, “brings together the best groups of the participating conservatories”.

Science, talent, music and culture on the university campus
Each year, the conservatories call for an award “to which their best students compete”. The winning groups have the opportunity to perform in the Aula Magna of the Gandia Campus of the UPV. Also, as part of the experience, they visit the acoustic chambers of the center, where they can perform their musical pieces and learn first-hand about a specialized research environment.
Jesús Alba also emphasized the high level of the participants and the value of these collaborations, which allow “science, talent, music and culture” to come together in a university environment.
