The UPV Communication Area launches the second edition of this science outreach initiative aimed at the entire university community. The deadline to participate is June 20.
The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) has announced the II Contest “Scientific Monologues UPV”, an initiative aimed at the entire university community -whether research staff, teachers, students or technical staff, management, administration or services- and that aims: to disseminate science with a touch of humor.
It’s very easy to participate: just send an email to cienciaupv@upv.es a video of a maximum duration of 3 minutes in which each participant interprets a monologue in Spanish or Valencian about a scientific or technological topic (for example, the results of a paper, a project he/she is working on, a scientific concept, science in everyday life…).
The video must include, in the file name, the title of the file. If it is too heavy, it can be sent via https://intercambio.upv.es.
The deadline to participate in this new initiative of scientific dissemination of the UPV will be open until June 20.
Awards
Whoever wins the first prize will receive a set of commercial promotional items from the UPV and a puzzle from the Dones de la Ciència project promoted by this university. There will also be prizes for those who come in second and third place. In addition, the three will be able to participate with their monologue in the gala of the IV UPV Research Awards.
In the first edition, the winner was Francisco Pedroche, researcher at the University Institute of Multidisciplinary Mathematics (IMM), with his monologue “Infinity is an accordion”. The second winner was Carolina Ropero, PhD student at the UPV, who presented the monologue “Fantastic mushrooms and where to find them”. And the third prize went to Miguel López Pérez, researcher of the CVBLab- Human-TECH group, with his monologue “Quien en ChatGPT confía, yerra cada día”.
This contest is part of the annual program of communication and scientific dissemination of the UPV and is promoted by its Communication Area, through its Unit of Scientific Culture and Innovation (UCC+I). It is supported by the FECYT of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.
