III Symposium on History and Artistic Expression. “Landscapes of change”.

The Faculty of Fine Arts of the Universitat Politècnica de València continues to develop, for the third consecutive year, the teaching innovation project involving nearly 400 students and more than 40 teachers of the first year of the Degree in Fine Arts, with the aim of promoting creativity, critical thinking and reflection from contemporary art in dialogue with current challenges.
Within the framework of this project, the III Symposium in History and Artistic Expression, under the subtitle “Landscapes of Change”, will be held onJanuary 27, 2026 at the Auditori Alfons Roig, Faculty of Fine Arts, Barcelona.. This third edition proposes to establish critical connections between contemporary art, landscape and climate action, promoting an interdisciplinary reflection committed to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The symposium will feature the participation of the following speakers and artists: José María Parreño, Verónica Perales, Monique Bastiaans, Anaïs Florín and Lucía Loren, whose interventions will address different approaches to landscape, the climate crisis, ecological awareness and the role of art as a tool for awareness, social and environmental transformation.
Through their lectures and the presentation of their artistic trajectories and projects, the symposium will offer students an expanded theoretical framework that will allow them to contextualize their own practices in contemporary discourses on ecology, territory and sustainability. It will also foster students’ ability to transform critical -and self-critical- reflections into artistic actions with social and environmental impact.
The III Symposium on History and Artistic Expression is aimed primarily at students of the Bachelor of Fine Arts, although it is also open to researchers, artists and the general public interested in art history, contemporary creation and current ecological challenges.
Admission is free and compulsory for first year students of the Fine Arts Degree (UPV).
