Educators and trainers gather in Valencia to shape the future of sustainability education

The ENHANCE Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Innovation working group brought together 20 participants in Valencia to test and refine tools for sustainability-focused teaching and training.

Over the three days, several workshops took place focusing on Life Cycle Assessment, a methodology that evaluates the environmental impact of a product, process or service throughout all its stages (from raw material extraction to final disposal) and on the Backcasting strategic planning method, which starts from a desired future and works backwards to define the steps needed to achieve it. Significant efforts were also devoted to refining the Sustainability Atlas (a collection of resources designed to help entrepreneurs, researchers, educators, and professionals integrate sustainability into their work), which WP5 is developing as one of its main tasks.

The workshops were complemented by a visit to two companies emerging from the UPV entrepreneurial ecosystem: Solatom and CoSMos Engineering. SOLATOM focuses on manufacturing solar boilers designed to produce steam for industrial use. As an alternative to conventional fossil-fuel boilers, these systems are installed on the ground or on factory rooftops and generate renewable steam that replaces steam produced using fossil fuels. Meanwhile, Cosmos Engineering has developed COSMOS, an innovative system for monitoring concrete strength, designed to transform management and control processes in construction projects.
