The Andersen UPV Chair organizes a meeting on the evolution of Spain within the European Union

Last Thursday, May 14, the Faculty of Business Administration and Management at the Universitat Politècnica de València hosted the training session “Forty Years of Spain in the EU: Commercial and Economic Balance”, organized by the Andersen UPV Chair of Sustainability and Regulated Markets.

The event featured Rafael Ripoll, Of Counsel at Andersen, Professor of European Union Law, and former Regional Secretary for Relations with the European Union of the Generalitat Valenciana, who delivered a lecture to students from the Business Administration (ADE) and Public Administration and Management (GAP) degrees on Spain’s evolution within the European Union and its economic and commercial impact on the country.

During the session, several topics related to Spain’s integration into the EU were discussed, highlighting how the country has established itself as one of the most compliant members with European regulations and guidelines. The talk also explored the economic transformation experienced over the more than four decades since Spain joined the European Union, with particular attention to milestones such as the transition from the peseta to the euro and the country’s economic and social modernization.

The event also stood out for the active participation of the students, who raised various questions about the future of Europe, Spain’s role within the European Union, and the differences between the Anglo-Saxon and the European models in economic and social matters.

The activity, organized by the Andersen UPV Chair in collaboration with Andersen, provided a space for reflection and debate on Spain’s evolution within the European context and the current challenges facing the European Union.
