An assessment instrument with which the observer can indicate whether the student displays (YES) or does not display (NO) a specified behaviour. This YES and NO may be qualified by other answers, such as always, almost always, etc.
With checklists, observers must pay attention to clearly specified features or indicators.
Purpose
To assess skills that can be divided into a series of clearly defined acts, such as operating a microscope.
To assess a process where the behaviours to be observed are ordered in a logical way.
