Nanophotonics

Nanophotonics

Description

The subject offers to the student the basic knowledge to understand the interaction of light with structures of micro and nanometer sizes. It also shows the state of the art in science and nanophotonic technology and the expected impact on the industry for the next years. In such a way, the student will complete the knowledge acquired in other subjects related with photonics and optical communications.

Recommended knowledge

Basic knowledge about optics

Evaluation

The evaluation will consist two written exams at the middle and the end of the course as well as a number of individual works that will be proposed during the course.

Learning Units

  • 1. Introduction to Nanophotonics
  • 2. Fundamentals of photonic integrated waveguides
  • 3. Basic structures in photonic integrated circuits
