Alejandro Martínez Abietar

Telecom Engineer BsC and PhD degrees from the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (UPV), Spain, in 2000 and 2004, respectively.

Research Areas related to Msc Telecom:

The final work for my BsC was focused on new techniques to avoid carrier suppression in radio-on-fiber systems. My PhD Thesis was focused on passive optical devices based on two-dimensional photonic crystals. After finishing my PhD, I conducted several studies on negative refraction in photonic crystals and launched a research line focused on metamaterial science and technology at the Nanophotonics Technology Center (NTC) at UPV. During that period (2006-2008) I was also working in the FP6 project PHOLOGIC - coordinated by Prof. Javier Marti - on all-optical nanophotonic logic gates for ultrafast all-optical processing. Since 2008, I am an Associate Professor at the same university and a group leader in the Nanophotonics Technology Center (www.ntc.upv.es). During my career, I have been involved in several national and European research projects. Recently, I coordinated the FET-Open project TAILPHOX (Ref. 233883, www.tailphox.org), started on May 2009 with a 2.1 M¿ funding from EC. I have co-authored over 80 papers in international journals (h-index=17) and I hold 6 patents. I am also a usual referee for IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, Physical Review Letters, Optics Letters and Optics Express. My research interests include photonic crystals, silicon nanophotonics, optomechanics and metamaterials.
