The Polytechnic University of Valencia Master's Degree in Forest Engineering consists of 90 ECTS credits (1.5 academic years), with a core component of 60 ECTS credits and another with five synthetic and applied specialisations: Mediterranean Forest Management; Environment Planning; Protection and Conservation of Flora and Fauna in Natural Areas; Forestry Products; and Adapting Forests to Climate Change. These reflect public and private sector activities, and capitalize on both potential and current resources. They relate to the environment, the landscape and forestry activities, and respect principles of sustainability.


This course deals with the competences of the regulated profession of forestry engineer, whose main professional activities are forest planning and management issues; hydrologic restoration, reforestation and plant production and biotechnology; wildlife management, including aquaculture and hunting; the protection and conservation of the natural environment and species and protected natural areas, in particular the prevention and detection of, and fight against, forest fires; forest health; and finally, the evaluation of natural systems, resources and their use, and forest industries.

The planning and engineering skills that the student acquires will prepare them for land-use and landscape management and planning; the design of parks and recreation areas, gardening and landscape projects; civil engineering, construction and forestry infrastructure; and projects and consultancy (appraisals, assessments and reports).

Admission criteria

Eligible students must hold a bachelor's degree. The degree of reference for acceptance on the course is the UPV Bachelor's Degree in Forest and Environmental Engineering. Other degree courses are accepted although individual cases will be reviewed to determine what additional studies are required to meet the admission criteria, depending on the origin of the student.
