ARWU 2026

The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), popularly known as the Shanghai ranking and considered internationally as the most prestigious indicator of universities in the world due to the objectivity of its methodology, has once again recognised the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) as the best polytechnic in Spain.

In its results, ARWU places the institution directed by José E. Capilla as the only Spanish polytechnic among the 500 best universities in the world. The podium is completed by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), ranked 501-600, and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), ranked 701-800.

Internationally recognised by all top-level rankings

Along with ARWU 2026, that includes the UPV in the international university elite for the 22nd consecutive time, the other two main world university rankings, QS and THE, also endorse the UPV's level.

Not in vain, on 18 June, QS World University Rankings included the UPV in the world's top 500 for the 15th consecutive year. Previously, in its subject-specific ranking – published three months earlier – QS had rated the UPV as the best university in Spain for studying Agricultural Sciences, Art and Design, Chemical Engineering, and Statistics and Operational Research. Furthermore, also last June, Times Higher Education (THE) magazine had recognised the UPV as the university with the greatest social and economic impact in Spain.

These international assessments, of unquestionable prestige, represent a valuable reinforcement for all the professionals who make up the UPV, an institution that continues to work day after day to offer education that combines innovation, quality and adaptation to the needs of today's reality.
