UPV, a hub of innovation in language teaching

[ 10/03/2026 ]

The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) hosted the FECEI – LIDER ’26 Spring Conference. The technical event, organised by the Federación Española de Centros de Enseñanza de Idiomas (FECEI) in collaboration with ACEICOVA, brought together directors and decision-makers from across the language academy sector.

The Centro de Lenguas of the Universitat Politècnica de València, represented by its Director, delivered the opening address of the conference. In her speech, Nuria Llobregat highlighted the importance of building synergies between the public university system and private language centres, underlining the growing need for English proficiency in higher education and the key role that specialised language centres play in supporting linguistic competence and international engagement.

Strategic debates and the impact of AI

The programme was structured around an analysis of developments in the sector and the impact of emerging technologies. Round-table discussions addressed, among other topics, the implementation of personalised learning pathways, immersive learning experiences and online certification; how to restore the “live classroom” beyond screens; and innovative business models.

The effects of artificial intelligence on centre management and assessment processes were also examined. In addition, the FECEI SEO+AI Programme was presented, focusing on practical frameworks for attracting and retaining students through automation and algorithm analysis.

The event also included the presentation of the FECEI TOP Awards, which recognise centres and professionals who have stood out for their capacity for innovation, adaptability and leadership within the sector.
