For the 14th consecutive year, QS World University Ranking has once again included the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) among the 500 best universities worldwide. Specifically, the institution currently led by José E. Capilla ranks 422nd, improving its position by 14 places compared to the previous edition.

This is certified by the latest edition of the prestigious ranking compiled by the consulting firm Quacquarelli Symonds, which, after evaluating a total of 8,467 institutions (2,804 more than last year) from 106 countries, highlights the UPV in sustainability (180th), international research networks (240th) and academic reputation (314th), as well as including it in the national top 10 in citations per school, sustainability and international students.

Nine indicators

To carry out the study, Quacquarelli Symonds considers nine indicators for higher education institutions: academic reputation, international research networks, student-to-teacher ratio, sustainability, proportion of international students and academic staff, citations per school, reputation for employers and graduate employment.

Best university in Spain for studying both Art and Design and Information and Document Management

In addition to the QS World University Rankings, published annually since 2004, Quacquarelli Symonds also publishes its annual ranking of universities by subjects.

In its latest edition, published last April, QS highlighted the UPV in a total of 17 disciplines, naming it as the best university in Spain for studying both Art and Design and Document and Information Management, second in Materials Science and Statistics and Operational Research, and third in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering.

This result joins those obtained by the UPV in the assessments carried out by the other two leading indicators of university quality in the world: Jiao Tong University, responsible for the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) and Times Higher Education (THE).

In fact, just yesterday, THE recognised the UPV as the Spanish university with the greatest social and economic impact in the world. At the same time, ARWU, considered the most prestigious international ranking, highlighted the UPV in its latest update as the best technological university in Spain and included it, for the 20th consecutive year, in its global ranking of the 500 most important universities on the planet.
