UPV Innovation Forum

On 16 May, it will bring together research and entrepreneurship teams from different sectors to exchange experiences in R&D&I and knowledge transfer in the Valencian ecosystem from the UPV

[ 15/05/2025 ]

On 16 May, the ?UPV Innovation Forum?, formerly known as 'UPV Innovation Day', will be held in the Cubo del Azul auditorium of the Polytechnic City of Innovation (CPI), the science park of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV).

This event represents the commitment to innovation of the UPV and its ecosystem, as described by Salvador Coll, Vice-Rector for Innovation and Transfer at the UPV. "The UPV Innovation Forum is much more than a meeting: it is the heartbeat of a community that transforms ideas into reality. It is the space where we celebrate talent, share learning and renew our commitment to innovation. It is where minds that make a difference converge inside and outside the UPV, weaving an ecosystem where creativity and knowledge intertwine. The voice of leaders in innovation challenges us to look beyond, broaden our horizons and focus our R&D more precisely to multiply its impact on society," says the Vice-Rector.

On the other hand, Fernando Conesa, director of the UPV Innovation OTC, highlights the purpose of the event. "At the Forum, we want to hear how companies approach innovation so that we can build a relationship with them that allows us to better leverage and guide UPV's research. But we also want to show, through its protagonists, how this research is becoming an economic and social value. With the Forum, we want to share lessons learned, challenges and achievements in the UPV's mission so that the knowledge it generates is useful to society."

This meeting was held for the first time in 2020, and this will be the sixth edition organised by UPV Innovación, UPV's Knowledge Transfer Office (OTC).

The conference has now established itself as the leading forum for research and entrepreneurship professionals to promote the exchange of successful experiences in R&D&I and transfer, as well as to discuss the upcoming challenges for innovation in Valencia.

Leading figures in innovation

The conference will offer a diverse programme, including lectures, presentations, and debates. The event will begin with the screening of the opening video, which will review the milestones and impact of R&D&I at the UPV during 2024. Next, the Rector of the University, José E. Capilla, will welcome the attendees.

As a keynote speaker, Beatriz Llamusí, CEO of Arthex Biotech, a company focused on developing a treatment for type 1 muscular dystrophy, will lecture the more than 200 attendees expected to attend. With a PhD in biochemistry, Llamusí has dedicated more than 13 years to researching the pathogenic mechanisms of rare neuromuscular diseases and their possible treatments. She has produced over 30 scientific articles and seven patents during this period.

In addition, ten stories of innovation and transfer will be presented by the nominees and winners of the III UPV Research Awards and the IDEAS 2024 Awards. Similarly, there will be a round table discussion entitled ‘What do companies think about when they talk about innovation?’, with the participation of Pedro Silva, CEO of Grupo BeGas; Javier Parra, Director of R&D&I at Citrosol; and Marián Serrano, Director of Innovation at Global Omnium.

Throughout the day, attendees will also be able to enjoy a live comic strip performance by members of the UPV Design Factory Comic Club, who will capture the highlights of the event.

The forum is organised by UPV Innovation, UPV's Knowledge Transfer Office (OTC), which promotes innovation that has an impact on its socio-economic and environmental surroundings.

This event is aimed at academic and research staff, research and development managers, innovation agents at the UPV, staff from its entrepreneurship ecosystem, professionals, executives from companies linked to the University and the Valencian innovation system, and collaborating public bodies.
