The period for submitting candidacies is now open
The deadline for submitting candidacies for the elections for Rector is 27 January
[ 23/01/2025 ]
The elections for Rector, scheduled for 12 February, have entered a decisive phase. From today until 27 January, one of the most important phases in the course of these elections is open: the submission of candidacies.
The presentation of candidacies must be done through the UPV Intranet. After entering your username and password, click on the ‘Elections 2024’ section to access the platform that allows you to stand as a candidate.
(3rd paragraph) After the publication of the provisional proclamation of candidates, and once the period for submitting complaints has ended, the definitive proclamation of candidates will be made public on 31 January on the Secretary General's microweb, by clicking on ‘Elections UPV 2024’, in the section ‘Elections for Rector’.
New requirements for candidacies
The entry into force of the new Organic Law of the University System (LOSU), as well as the approval of new Statutes adapted to this Law, introduce several changes that affect this phase of candidacy submission, specifically regarding the requirements to be met by those leading the candidacies.
Thus, all full-time permanent academic and research staff holding at least three six-year research and/or transfer periods, three five-year teaching periods and four years of university management experience in a single-person position may run for Rector. Therefore, the requirement of holding a chair as an indispensable condition to lead a candidacy is eliminated.
The person elected or designated in these elections will lead the UPV for a single term of six years.
