The School of Civil Engineering (ETSICCP) of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) celebrates this week SICMA 2024, the 30th edition of the Civil Engineering and Environment Week, an event that brings together students, teachers, researchers, professionals and companies in the sector, and that means, for students, a training plus and an approach to the world of work, in many cases, beyond our borders.
The programme includes numerous lectures by leading professionals, as well as, among others, a talent networking day and professional opportunities for students, the exhibition ‘The wood of Equatorial Guinea in emergency housing architecture’ of the Maderamen Chair, a recruitment workshop, and recreational events such as paellas or the sixth edition of the mile walk, culminating this Friday 10 May with the celebration of the Patron Saint's Day: Santo Domingo de la Calzada.
For another year, SICMA kicked off on Monday with a well-deserved tribute to the graduates of 25 and 50 years ago, allowing us to enjoy emotional reunions between professionals who have played a key role in making the school an accurate international benchmark.
During the opening day, the prizes of the TORRESCÁMARA Innovation Challenge were also awarded. The first prize of 3,000 euros went to Víctor Manuel Ramos Meléndez, for his ‘Sistema interconectado de emergencia Ecall casco-mocicleta (SIE-CM)’.
The runner-up prize of the challenge, worth 1,000 euros, was awarded to Mishel Asparuhova Danova.
