"The Gandia Campus Employment Forum has become a strategic meeting point for companies, institutions, students and graduates," said Jesús Alba, Director of the Gandia Campus of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), at the opening of the 16th Employment, Business and Training Forum. "This job fair is a valuable opportunity to transfer talent and exchange knowledge between our campus and the closest business network".

For his part, the Rector of the UPV, José E. Capilla, stated that "our university is constantly working, reviewing its offer to meet the needs of society" and to advance in the field of training, "offering a more appropriate training to students and companies".

The inauguration was also attended by provincial and local authorities. Among them was the Mayor of Gandia, José Manuel Prieto, who pointed out that "alliances with the University are essential for economic, business and social revitalisation, which seeks to move forward to become better and better".

Employment Forum, a bridge between the university classroom and the labour market

More than 300 young people, including students and graduates, attended the 2024 Gandia Campus Employment Forum, which brought together 44 companies. They also visited the Business Chairs and Master's Degrees taught at the centre. According to Vicent Altur, Deputy Director of the Business, Employment and Entrepreneurship Chairs at the Campus, "These companies represent a wide range of industries, from technology to tourism, including agriculture and financial services, offering our students and graduates a variety of professional opportunities".

The Employment Forum at the Gandia Campus aims to build bridges between the university classroom and the labour market, connecting companies with final-year students seeking internships or a first job. "Students trying to find a job come to our stand," explains Cristina Martínez from the Eurofirms Human Resources Office. For other entities, such as À Punt, also present at the 16th edition of the Employment Forum, "our relationship with the campus is very consolidated" and "we have students on internships throughout the year".

In this sense, for the students of the Campus, "it is important to know that the companies that come here have offers for the degrees that are studied here", said Valeria Orsillo, a fourth-year student of the Bachelor's Degree in Audiovisual Communication at the Gandia Campus.

Business, Employment and Training

Throughout the day of the XVI Employment Forum of the Gandia Campus, several parallel activities took place. These included an interview laboratory, where students could simulate a job interview with human resources professionals from the participating companies. There was also an area for CV revision and advice. On the other hand, Ángel Alba, founder of Innolandia.es and expert in strategic innovation, gave the keynote speech that closed the event.

The number of participants, students and companies in the new edition of the Employment Forum of the Gandia Campus underlines the importance of this type of event "to connect business needs with professional competence", said the Director of the Centre, Jesús Alba. In addition, this year, it coincided with the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Gandia Campus, "making it a doubly special celebration".
