The Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and Communication of the Universitat Politècnica de València, José Francisco Monserrat, has been selected to participate in the prestigious International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) in the United States, which has already been attended by nearly 500 heads of state and government from around the world.
The Vice-Rector José Francisco Monserrat has expressed his satisfaction at being included in this program of the U.S. Department of State: "It is a privilege that will reinforce the ties between the UPV and the world's leading scientific system. I hope to live up to this incredible opportunity".
Through short-term visits to the United States, current and emerging leaders in various fields experience this country first-hand and cultivate lasting relationships with U.S. counterparts. The meetings reflect each participant's professional interests and support U.S. foreign policy objectives.
Each year, close to 5,000 personalities participate in the International Visitor Leadership Program, established in 1940. In the case of the Science and Technology Program, this select group is reduced to 50 individuals. Most IVLP exchanges involve three-week visits to four U.S. communities. However, projects vary depending on topics, Embassy requests, and other factors.
Participants meet with their professional counterparts, visit U.S. public and private organisations related to the project issue, and participate in cultural and social activities. The selection of program members is made by the U.S. Embassies in each country.
