Access requirements

Access requirements The reference degree that ensures all the competencies necessary to study the master’s as a natural continuation of studies is the Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering. However, due to the inherent multidisciplinary nature of the space sector, related degrees and curricula demonstrating training in the minimum competencies required to complete the education offered in the Master’s Degree in Space Engineering will be accepted and assessed.

The related degrees would be: industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, automatic engineering, industrial organisation engineering, navigation engineering, electrical engineering, electronic engineering, telecommunications engineering, computer and systems engineering, chemical engineering, materials engineering, natural environment engineering, physics and astronomy. Admission outside the reference degree and those related to the field of knowledge of the qualification is not possible.

Admission for students with disabilities

For students with specific educational needs arising from a disability, appropriate support and counselling services will be established to assess the need for curricular adaptations, alternative pathways or alternative studies, through the support of the CEDAT Foundation at UPV.

The CEDAT Foundation at UPV provides information and counselling to members of the university community with disabilities, as well as accompaniment and support in the classroom. It also provides technical study aids to those students who, due to their special educational needs, require them. It also promotes and manages training and employment initiatives for this group, both on and off the UPV campuses, and offers various services through its Special Employment Centre.

The foundation also carries out projects for the removal of architectural and urban barriers, comprehensive accessibility plans, accessibility audits, project reviews, counselling and the design of ideal accessibility models.

Admission criteria

Article 17 of Real Decreto 1393/2007, amended by Real Decreto 861/2010, regulates admission to master’s studies and establishes that students may be admitted in accordance with the specific requirements and assessment criteria established by the University.

The requirements and assessment criteria must ensure equal opportunities of access to education for students who meet the access conditions. They must be transparent, objective and must allow the selection of the most qualified applicants based on the academic record and accredited merits, under conditions of comparability of said records and merits.

In accordance with the Academic Regulations and Student Assessment Rules of the UPV, approved by the Governing Council on 28 January 2010, the Academic Title Committees are responsible for the “Proposal, to the committees established for this purpose by the UPV, of the conditions of admission and credit recognition”.

When there are more candidates than places available, the Academic Title Committees are responsible for assessing the merits of the candidates and prioritising them in accordance with the specific requirements and assessment criteria included below, approved by the Academic Committee of the Governing Council in its session held on 16 October 2013.

The Academic Committee of the Governing Council is also responsible for the interpretation and, where applicable, the approval of any regulations that need to be established in relation to the admission procedure, to ensure the principles of equality and equity in admission.

The structure responsible for the master’s (ERT) will publish the specific admission requirements and the criteria for the assessment of merits and selection, before the start of the general pre-registration period, through whatever means it considers appropriate. In any case, these means must always include the publication of this information on the UPV institutional website.

Likewise, the ERT will resolve admission applications in accordance with the aforementioned criteria and will publish the list of admitted students, as well as the list of applicants placed on the waiting list, ranked according to the result of applying the published merit assessment and selection criteria.
