Visit to BSC-CNS and Qilimanjaro

On Friday, May 9, the students of the course Quantum Computing of the Degree in Engineering Physics, together with Professor Carmina G. Almudéver, had the opportunity to see up close the quantum computers of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, BSC-CNS (Barcelona Supercomputing Center). https://www.bsc.es/) and those manufactured by Qilimanjaro ( https://www.qilimanjaro.tech/).

At the BSC-CNS, the students visited the MareNostrum 5 supercomputer, the most powerful in Spain, as well as the two quantum computers developed with 100% European technology and which are part of the Quantum Spain project. In addition, they had the pleasure to learn about the research in quantum computing being carried out at the BSC (Quantum group) and at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (N3CAT group) thanks to the presentations made by some of their PhD students.

At Qilimanjaro, one of the main companies dedicated to the development of analog quantum computers based on superconducting circuits, they were able to see the labs where different quantum computing systems are currently installed;
