Admission requirements
To access the Master’s Degree in Occupational Risk Prevention, it is necessary to hold an official Spanish university degree or a degree issued by a higher education institution of another member state of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), which allows access to master’s degree courses.
In addition, graduates from educational systems outside the EHEA may be admitted, without the need to homologate their degrees, provided that the university verifies that their education is equivalent to the official Spanish university degrees and qualifies them in the country of issue for access to postgraduate studies. This access will not imply the homologation of the previous degree.
Admission for disabled students
For students with specific educational needs arising from a disability, appropriate support and counseling services will be established to assess the needs of curricular adaptations, itineraries or alternative studies, through the support of the CEDAT Foundation of the UPV.
The CEDAT Foundation of the UPV offers information and advice to members of the university community with disabilities, as well as accompaniment and support in the classroom. In addition, it provides technical aids for study to those members of the student body who, due to their special educational needs, require it. It also promotes and manages training and employment actions for this group, both inside and outside the UPV campuses, and offers different services from its Special Employment Center.
The foundation also carries out projects for the elimination of architectural and urban barriers, comprehensive accessibility plans, accessibility audits, project reviews, advice and design of ideal accessibility models.
General information on access can be found in the Alumni Service – Access
Admission criteria
The process of admission and selection of candidates will be based on an evaluation of the undergraduate degree, the academic record and the profile of the subjects taken in the degree. Professional, teaching and research experience will also be taken into account, as well as complementary training obtained through training courses.
In order to apply, interested parties must submit their curriculum vitae, which will include the syllabus of the subjects of their degree related to the content of the Master’s Degree in Occupational Risk Prevention. The Master’s Academic Committee will establish a scale based on these merits in order to make a pre-selection of candidates. This scale will be revised annually according to the experience obtained in previous courses.
The study of occupational accidents and the implementation of measures to improve health and safety conditions at work can be approached from different perspectives: legal, technical, medical, psychological, sociological and economic. For this reason, the master’s degree is designed to accept students with different university degrees, in accordance with the provisions of Royal Decree 39/1997 of January 17, 1997, which only requires a university degree without additional requirements.
However, following the subjects and achieving the objectives of the program require some basic prior knowledge. This recommended prior knowledge can be consulted in the teaching guides of the different subjects of the Master’s program.

- Priority in the choice.
- Academic record; the academic record of the entrance qualification will be evaluated by the average grade of the academic record in base 10.
A minimum score of five (5) points must be obtained to be accepted into the Master’s program, taking into account both the priority of the candidate’s selection and his or her entrance qualification. Scores lower than 5 will automatically exclude the candidate.
With respect to the order of access degrees, this is adjusted according to the demands of the labor market and the specific requests for graduates from companies. At present, companies require Occupational Risk Prevention technicians with a solid background, especially in technical areas such as engineering and architecture, which is reflected in the structure of the Master’s program. However, this demand is variable, depending on the needs of the labor market at any given time.
Scholarships
Studies leading to an official university degree allow access to scholarships and grants. The Ministry of Education, the Generalitat Valenciana and the Universitat Politècnica de València itself offer various scholarships and grants.

General scholarships for students pursuing post-compulsory studies valid throughout the national territory. The scholarship will consist of exemption from payment of fees for the provision of university academic services (tuition fees), corresponding to subjects enrolled for the first time. Other fixed and variable amounts may also be obtained, if the requirements established for this purpose are met.

For the awarding of the scholarship it is necessary to prove administrative residence in the Valencian Community and not to exceed the income thresholds established by the call, as well as to comply with the general and academic requirements.
