The pastJune 3, 2026The Master’s Degree in Electronic Systems Engineering (MUISE) hosted the seminar given by the companyDismuntel S.A.entitled“From Simulator to Real World: Hardware in the Loop and its Impact on Power Control Design.”. The session, held in the basement classroom of the 7F building, was conducted byLuis Torres Peñalverfirmware and control engineer in the company’s power department.
During the conference, key aspects of the development of embedded systems oriented to thepower controlfocusing on the use of advanced methodologies, such as theModel-Based Design and, especially, in the paradigmHardware in the Loop (HIL). Through a balanced combination of theory and practical demonstrations, the speaker showed how these techniques allow control algorithms to be validated in secure environments before their final implementation in real systems.
One of the highlights of the seminar was thereal-time demonstration of HIL systems applied to three-phase inverters. The use of professional instrumentation and simulation platforms allowed to visualize with great clarity the transition between the simulated model and the physical behavior of the system, reinforcing the understanding of the validation process in industrial environments.

“What interested me most was the Hardware in the Loop (HIL) concept. Given my background in power electronics, it seems very relevant to me because it allows you to validate the control firmware on the actual hardware without the risk of damaging the actual system.
What helped me the most to understand the transition from the simulator to the real system was the practical part: all the instrumentation and equipment the speaker brought and the control simulations he showed on screen. Seeing how the HIL system generated in real time all the three-phase voltages and how the control responded makes it clear that the HIL is the ideal bridge between the simulation and the real system.”
