The Master’s Degree in Electronic Systems Engineering (MUISE) organizes the seminarSpace Power Systemswhich will be given by Professor Dr. Esteban Sanchis on June 2 and 4 in the basement classroom of the 7F building of the Universitat Politècnica de València.
The seminar will introduce students to the field of space power electronics, a highly demanding technological environment where reliability and robustness are fundamental aspects due to the extreme conditions of space. The main power bus architectures currently used in space systems, as well as their most important functional blocks, will be discussed during the sessions.
In addition, students will learn the operating principles of power generating subsystems and the differences between regulated and unregulated power systems, ending with a simulated practical exercise of a regulated bus.
The contents of the seminar include:
- Introduction to space power systems.
- Energy generating subsystems.
- Regulated and unregulated power systems.
- Space bus architectures.
- Reliability in space electronic systems.
- Practical simulation of a regulated bus.
Dr. Esteban Sanchis Kilders is University Professor in the Department of Electronic Engineering at the Universitat de València. His research activity is focused on power electronics, with extensive experience in aerospace power systems. Among his contributions, it is worth mentioning his responsibility in the design of the power supply for the PHI experiment, integrated in the Solar Orbiter mission. He also spent two years at the technology center of the European Space Agency (ESA), with which he currently maintains a close professional collaboration.
This activity is part of the MUISE’s program of specialized seminars, aimed at bringing students closer to advanced technologies and real applications in strategic sectors such as aerospace, and is funded by the UPV’s SIRVE program.
